Masters of Doom 05/15/2005 03:04:39
I just bought "Masters of Doom" off Barnes & Noble, it arrived Friday afternoon and I finished it just now. The book is easily the best piece of gaming/computer history I've read since folklore.org. It's essentially about the 2 main guys behind ID software John Carmack and John Romero and follows them from childhood to about 2003/2004. I've always been partial to the history of gaming and really had a hard time putting the book down. I was also amazed by how the author actually understood so much of the topic of gaming and computing something that is often very rare in any form of print. I highly recommend reading it even if you only have the slightest interest in the computer gaming field.
